Hmm.looks like they are basically reworking the whole universe. I was kind of always hoping for something like a progression of the original, something maybe breaking up TOG, like with a civil war or the opening of a new front like with the KessRith, so that its victory did not seem inevitable and maybe making it so it was not so black and white. It seems like TOG is now really the "Tellun Empire", the Commonwealth is now an alien Union, and TOG itself does not seem to be Rome in Space anymore. Looks like they are also redoing the actual Renegade Legion universe. I actually would like a Leviathan based computer game, though Leviathan as a game needs working as it was clearly unbalanced (Class E missile systems dominated). I think it had a branching campaign that branched depending on how you did in the missions, which unfortunately were rather repetitive. :-) But just like Alpha strike and battletech are both related but different, i can maybe see them doing a faster, xwing style version first and the "widowed armor" style tabletop second.Stormonu wrote: This thing needs some killin' Which is fine, probably: I LOVED centurian, and thought the interceptor damage trees were AMAZING, but they certainly aint FAST. Now, centurian becoming xwing? I'd have to peek at the rules, but I suspect it will lose a LOT of the older aspects. Yeah, i think leviathans could be sped up a LOT and bringing it in line with what people are playing while still keeping the "feel" of the older game. LVs, though, the range bracket would change on every ship depending on the ACTUAL numbers of hexes while Armada, being a hexless game, has standard range lengths) but, yeah, making hull just a standard number to beat per side and then making stuff like "thin" and "crew" be either cards or traits (or both) and then, instead of adding a motion die to the attacker the defender gets a set number of defense die based on speed and hull? ![]() it's fast and easy and STILL allows for grabbing a pile o'different colored dice to throw around (armada has ranged dice by color, which is exactly what leviathans had. I'm assuming that's how they'll go with the levithans, too: more like armada/X-wing as well. ![]()
