![]() ![]() ![]() Pepakura is specifically the program used to view and print out the 3D, but the process has taken on the name too. So what is Pepakura? Pepakura a type of papercraft that’s become a great way to create props and armor. The prop used in this tutorial is a splicer mask from Bioshock, but the same method was used for Queadlunn’s Mass Effect breather helmet. I learned a lot from the Replica Prop Forums (if you’re interested in prop and armor work, DEFINITELY visit this site, it’s a wonderful community) and Queadlunn gave me a lot of help along the way. This is my (Cata) first go at Pepakura and I definitely learned a lot. In my experience, it's much easier to sand and material gets removed much faster.Īlso if you plan on using acrylic paints, you probably should smooth the surface down and then use the acrylic or use primer first.Emphasis on beginner. If like the other user mentioned you're looking away from bondo because its hard to sand, consider getting Evercoat gold body filler. At the moment it looks like you're slathering it onto something that already has very little support in terms of structure. Using wood glue probably caused the paper to warp before hand, so I would recommend using the hot glue method instead (although this is dangerous to some extent).Īgain you could probably get this gesso material to work, but from what I can see you need to use way lighter coats and decrease the amount you put on each time. ![]() I'm not too familiar with gesso so I can't speak too much on it, but if you plan on continuing without using bondo&resin as the post before me has mentioned, you need to make sure that you reinforce the surfaces by adding support structures (straws or paper and popsicle sticks) and you also need to somehow waterproof the structure. ![]()
